Both the leather and footwear industry is one of the most polluting industries in the world. Virgin leather processing produces tannery effluents that are toxic and harmful to our waters, whilst the waste produces often involves sulphide, ammonia and other volatile compounds.
Launched in 2020, KIBO was born with a mission to give waste new hope and life second chances. With over 50 years of experiences in footwear manufacturing and trading, we want to change how leather and footwear is being manufactured whilst helping like-minded organisations switch its practices. We have solid partners on materials supplies and certified factories that enable us to create products that are cleaner for the environment and production.
Products and Services
KIBO, means ‘hope’ in Japanese, and brings a new promise to create a pair of sneakers that are ‘Kind to the planet & kind to your feet.’ The brand uses repurposed materials such as leather trimmings from factories, recycled post-consumer plastic waste and other natural materials in a process that is created with minimal environmental impact and sustainability in mind.

•Uppers made from sustainable and renewable resources such as recycled leather, recycled canvas, and the newest Apple Leather. These materials are manufactured in a solvent-free process where up to 95% of the water waste is reused.
•Linings made out of recycled plastic bottles (post-consumer plastic waste)
•Insoles with arch support made from dual-density foam and natural recycled cork that are anti-bacterial, anti-odour, sweat-wicking and comfortable.
•Shoelaces that are 100% recycled from plastic or cotton.
•Outsoles made from natural recycled rubber compound for comfort and durability
